Reuse and infill projects make me heart swell with pride and joy. Finally we are seeing more and more of these types of projects and the city that is represented by a bird that came from a pile of ashes starts to resemble just that. What was once a mechanics garage has been redesigned into a fun and vibrant restaurant and bar. As you pull up out front is a classic neon “Garage” sign, which is just the first nod to the properties past. There is a great patio out front with a garage door which in nicer weather will turn the whole place into a great open concept. There are quite a few flat screens allowing you to take your pick of which game to watch. Little trinkets and wall mounted rims are throughout the restaurant.

But don’t think just because it used to be a garage the food is going to match the motif. In fact, the menu is varied enough to satisfy most cravings but not so wide you doubt their ability to do any of them correctly. I had a hard time deciding and in fact ended up getting some honey truffle wings to go for the game the next day. But I’ll get to that in a minute. I chose the Mediterranean Chicken which was placed on couscous mixed with chopped tomatoes and olives.  The chicken was so moist. I can’t say it enough, it was moist. Inside was creamy goat cheese and mushrooms. My dining partner had the bacon wrapped tiger shrimp. They were huge! Placed on lemon risotto both meals were quite an eye full. It wasn’t overwhelming but left me full and happy. Now, as to my “to go” order mentioned earlier. As we ate our meal everyone around us ordered the wings and they looked good so I checked them out on the menu. I saw honey truffle and I was sold. I thought; what a perfect meal for the big game tomorrow. So I placed my order. Oh my! It was a great decision. Even reheated I enjoyed every wing to the last bone.

There are many other options on the menu I look forward to trying. A great neighborhood bar in what is becoming the next food destination intersection in phoenix.
