Last January 22, crowds gathered in North Phoenix at the Musical Instrument Museum to indulge in a night of two of life’s greatest things: Chocolate and Wine. Hosted by the Scottsdale League for the Arts, local wineries and chocolatiers were brought together for one tasty night!

As we weaved our way through the elegant event you could smell the chocolaty sweet aromas as “Sassy and the Sneak Attack” played classic favorites in the background. Arizona wineries Su Vino, Cellar 433 and Pillsbury had tables set up and were generously pouring tastings that were pairing perfectly with chocolate. Unique chocolate beers were also being offered as well as tasty Real Russian Vodka brand chocolate martinis.

Filling our stomachs with a little savory before the sweets we ventured to Capital Grille’s table where beef tenderloin with smashed potatoes were being served. This main dish was a perfect base before we went ChocoCrazy!

A few highlight included:

  • Xocolatl Confection whose table was a work of art with their beautiful assortment of chocolates.
  • Pomegranate cafe (sticking with the theme of their name) served up decadent chocolate pomegranate truffles.
  • Talking Stick with the most inventive dish, their warm cherry chocolate almond risotto.

As we devoured our little bites of heaven, small seminars were popping up sharing interesting information about chocolate. We caught a little bit of Zaks Chocolates seminar who were sharing facts about the cacao beans from Brazil and their use in specialty chocolates.

The elegant evening left me with a bit if a sugar high but I was already looking forward to next year’s Chocolate & Wine Experience as it was a perfect night full of indulgence, fun and a little education!

2017’s Chocolate & Wine Experience is on Jan 27th at The Saguaro in Scottsdale. More Information: Chocolate&Wine
