Great news! Our favorite gluten-free local bakery and café is now serving up dinner! Jewel’s has extended their hours and debut a dinner menu that is sure to make any mouth water.  Last week I was invited to preview some of these new nightly dishes.

As I browsed the new menu I noticed an interesting range of items. A few classics like beef stroganoff and red wine braised short ribs, but also some new inventive plates such as buffalo cauliflower “wings” and the portabella Philly sandwich.

DSC_0659 (2)To start, I decided on the French Onion Dip appetizer. Arriving in a small ramekin which resembled French onion soup was a nice subtle touch.  Warm caramelized onions, melted white cheddar and parmesan cheese made up this flavorful dip as small crisp crostini’s lined the plate ready to be dunked. I really enjoyed this savory starter, it wasn’t too complex and tapped into those traditional onion dip flavors but with an added boost of richness.

For dinner the Green Chili Cornbread Waffle caught my eye and I knew I MUST have it. Slow roasted pulled pork and fresh green slaw sit atop a fluffy beautiful oversized waffleDSC_0662 that encompasses the entire plate. The pulled pork seasoning was well-balance between spicy and sweet and saturated into the waffle nooks combining all elements of this dish. Each bite oozed with southern comfort!

Now for the sweet ending to this meal, the Butterscotch Skillet Cookie. Wow, this dessert was perfection. I know we all have had our fair share of skillet cookies, DSC_0668 (2)but this one takes the cake. A warm butterscotch cookie with dark chocolate ice cream and peanut butter. Yup, Julie managed to get all my favorite flavors into one skillet. Seriously, I almost made myself sick because I could not stop eating this gooey fantastic delight.

In addition, a new selection of local craft brews, signature cocktails, ales, and wine are now available complimenting the new dinner menu. Dinner is available to the public as of last Saturday and to sweeten the deal Jewel’s is running a special July 25th – 29th : Two Entrees = 1 free app, so be sure to get yourself over to Jewel’s Bakery and Café to try all this deliciousness first hand!
