“Pack it in, Pack it out”
This past weekend was a fun two day event in downtown Phoenix featuring 50, yes that is right, 50 food trucks! I decided to join in on the food truck fun Sunday afternoon. Located on a blocked off street in the heart of the Evans Churchill Neighborhood the 50 food trucks were fenced in and organized in an easy accessible way. The admission was $35 and once inside all the food was FREE. Each food truck had a board or a person explaining the dish or dishes they were serving that day. The dishes were sample sizes but I never felt like any were too small, each were a perfect small plate or little cup.
As I maneuvered my way through, I mentally logged all the food trucks and came up with a strategy of what was a “must have” before I stuffed myself silly. The variety of cuisines seemed endless, there was something for everyone. Picnic benches were placed all around where you could quickly sit and eat your treasures. You could purchase beer and wine and a few patrons were just kicking back with beers enjoying the local band that was playing. There was a nice sense of community at Taste of the Trucks. It was not only a relaxed and fun event, but a great way to sample all the food trucks I don’t get a chance to regularly indulge in….and boy did I indulge, I was waddling back to my car!
